Michael Bowles gala – a firm favourite with Fermoy swimmers

Emily Donohoe swam in the 200m and 100m freestyle, 200m and 100m backcrawl, and the 100m breaststroke over the two days in the Gus Healy Swimming Pool, Douglas and achieved PBs (personal best) in all events.

She really gave it her all and knocked an amazing 10 seconds off her 200m and 2 seconds off her 100m freestyle time, 2 seconds off her 100m backstroke and 5 seconds off her 100 breaststroke. Fantastic swimming Emily!

Matilda Higginbotham swam in the 100m and 50m freestyle, 100m and 50m backcrawl and the 50m breaststroke achieving just under a 4 second PB in 100m backcrawl; and 50m breaststroke, and a PB in her 50m backcrawl. Great weekend for Matilda, well done.

Aoibhe Holland swam in the 200m and 100m freestyle, 100m backcrawl and the 200m (IM) individual medley. Aoibhe finished with a 4 second PB in her 200m freestyle, 1 second PB in 100m freestyle and 200m IM. Great swimming Aoibhe.

Next up we have the boys. Daniel Galvin swam in the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 100m, and 50m fly, and the 200m IM. Daniel achieved a 3 second PB in the 50m freestyle, 2 second PB in backstroke, 8 second PB in 50m fly and an amazing 31-second PB in the 50 fly. Well done Daniel, amazing personal bests.

Conor Holland swam in the 100m and 200m backstroke securing a bronze medal in both events, Conor also swam in the 200m IM achieving a 6 second PB. Well done Conor, for bringing two bronze medals back to Fermoy.

Euan O’Grady swam in the 200m, 100m and 50m breaststroke along with the 100m freestyle. Euan secured a gold medal in the 200m breaststroke along with an amazing 18 sec PB in the 100m breaststroke. Well done Euan you had a fantastic weekend!

Daniela Saptefrati swam in the 100m backstroke, 200m and 100m freestyle, 200m IM and the 50m fly. Achieving a 7 second PB in the backstroke, 3 seconds in the 100m freestyle, 12 seconds in the 200m IM and 1 second in the 50m fly. Amazing PB Daniela, well done.

Finally, I want to say a big thank you to all the parents who travelled and encouraged the swimmers over the two days, and the team managers for assisting the coach Oisin, who supported them over the two days.
