Liz Kingston is Club Person of the Year 2018

At our AGM last week our chairman Declan O’Keeffe was delighted to announce Liz Kingston as our Club Person of the Year for 2018.

Liz has worked tirelessly in the background of our club for a number of years, and even when her own children moved on from the club she continued to help and advise the committee.

We hugely appreciate her hard work and her dedication to our club, our swimmers and the sport of swimming.

Her efforts have been invaluable. Thank you Liz!

Our AGM was very well attended, the existing committee were re-elected for another year: Chairman – Declan O’Keeffe, Secretary – Michael Callanan, Treasurer – Catherine Verling.

Head coach Jackie Power gave a very informative briefing on the squad structure of the club, criteria for progression, and an explanation of the various grades of competition.

Declan O’Keeffe gave us details of current membership (over 400), waiting lists (long!), club highlights, and outlined a few areas in which we need help from parents. We will publicise these vacancies on our social media and website over the next while, so please check it out and if you feel you are in a position to volunteer your services please let us know.

Club treasurer Catherine Verling gave an account of the financial status of the club, and an estimate of how things should go financially over 2019. She highlighted that as it is looking unlikely we will be able to run a club gala this year we are hoping that parents will donate an hour of their time to help with our street collection etc.

The evening ended with our draw for a free term’s membership, congratulations to our winner Joanne McHugh.
