Level 1 Blended Coaching Course UL

Dear Clubs & Coaches,

There will be a Level 1 Blended Coaching course taking place at University of Limerick on Friday 8th, 9th and 16th March, 2019.

Those wishing to part take will need to be Garda Vetted and have done a Safeguarding 1 workshop. I have attached the vetting form, parental consent form and a flow chart which explains the process (see underneath).

The time constraints are tight so anyone participating would need to apply for the Garda Vetting immediately (instructions are on the form).

I will send a link out to clubs once this course is registered on the database. In the meantime if clubs can let club members know it would be greatly appreciated. Further information below.

LEVEL 1 BLENDED ASSISTANT SWIMMING COACH

This course is designed for anyone who is interested in starting a career as a Swim Ireland Level 1 Assistant Swimming Coach or wants to assist a Swim Ireland level 2 Swimming Coach.

Successful completion of the course will qualify you to become a Swim Ireland Level 1 Assistant Swimming Coach which enables you to actively support a qualified Swimming Coach in the delivery of a pre-prepared session.

PREREQUISITES

You must be at least 15 years of age by the start of the course. Hold a valid Safeguarding certificate and have completed Swim Ireland vetting.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification although we strongly recommend that you have current knowledge and some practical experience of assisting with swimming lessons.

DETAILS

This is a Blended Learning programme which means that candidates’ complete part of the theory online. Candidates complete all e-learning elements prior to attending the face-to-face days.

Within 48 hours of booking we will send you an email with details of how to login to our Swim Training and Education Platform (STEP).

You will have until 72 hours before the first face to face date to successfully complete your online learning.

  •  8 Hours Practical (6 of which are lessons)

Friday 8th March 3pm – 9.30pm

Saturday 9th March 7.45am – 5pm

Sunday 16th March 7.45am – 2.15pm

Cost: €375 (exclusive of credit/debit card payment surcharge of 2%)

This is a blended learning course consisting of:

ONLINE LEARNING

Covering the theoretical elements of the course. You will be expected to complete the online learning assessment before attending the face to face course days. You will need access to a computer/tablet and Internet access to complete your online learning. The purpose of assessment is to ensure that effective learning has taken place.

To achieve this qualification, you will be expected to complete the online theory test where you will be required to achieve 100% in the online test before you can proceed to the face-to-face course.

FACE-TO-FACE

Delivered by an experienced Swim Ireland tutor during which you will put the theory that you have learnt into practice.
