Munster Grade ‘A’ Gala action this weekend in Mallow

Best of luck to our swimmers who are taking part in the Munster Grade ‘A’ Gala at Mallow Pool on this Saturday, May 7. Warm-up is 9am for a starting time of 10am. All events will be heat declared winners.

Mayfield is the venue on Sunday, May 15 for the Munster Grade ‘B’ Gala. 9am warm-up, 10am start time.

The Fermoy swimming club Grade C swimmers attended a Gala at Douglas in Cork on Sunday, April 24, always a difficult venue due to the location and age of the pool.

John Lonergan had a great day swimming PB’s to achieve his Munster Grade B time not only in the 100m freestyle but also in the 100m IM, so is now officially a Munster Grade B swimmer.

Ben Terry swam a truly delightful 50m butterfly winning gold and achieving his B time in this event.

There was no holding back Lauren Armstrong who swam get PB’s including taking over 6 seconds off in her 100m freestyle and 7 in her IM. Not to be out-done, Ciara Clancy also managed a magnificent 6 second PB in her 100m freestyle. David Noonan showed the girls that the boys were not going to be out-done by producing a 9.23 PB in his 50m breaststroke and 3.34 in his IM. Oisin Morrison also swam a great PB in his 50m backcrawl taking off 4.27 seconds.

Hannah Salvatori meanwhile was busy collecting medals with a gold in the 100m IM, silver in the 50m backstroke, breaststroke and 100m freestyle.

Emma O’Grady took nearly 2 seconds off her 50m breaststroke, with Mia McMahon achieving very good times for her swims as well as Nefelia Pyrovolaki and Emily Darren-Dalton.

Thanks goes to coach Paula Finn and all the parents who travelled to support and help at the gala.
