Mallow and Mayfield bring smiles for Fermoy swimmers

Dolphin Open

Well done to our swimmers who took part at the very busy 3-day Dolphin Open last weekend in Mayfield. Swimming over the weekend were Ryan Ates, Eabha Burke, Zach Daniels Howard, Amy Hawe, Tadhg O’Brien, Luke O’Shea and Luca Salvatori.

Ryan swam the 100 breast where he had a great PB and won silver, and he went on to PB in his 200 IM. Eabha had a total of 4 events – 100 fly, and then three great PBs in the 200 IM, 100 free and 200 free. Zach was swimming the 100 breast and the 100 fly, where he had PBs in both.

Amy was taking on the 800 free, an event that is all about pacing, which she did in style knocking nearly 15 seconds off her previous time – well done Amy. Tadhg was swimming 3 events at the gala, 100 breast, 100 back and 100 free and was great to see him get a great PB in his breaststroke.

Luke had two very good swims with his 100 back and 100 free. Luca had a busy weekend taking on 6 events – a very good PB in his 100 breast saw him come away with a bronze medal, with another bronze and another PB in the 200 IM.

Luke O’Shea and Tadhg O’Brien had great swims at last weekend’s Dolphin Open.

Luca also had a very impressive PB in his 100 back followed by two good swims in the 100 free and 100 IM and finishing off with a PB in the 200 free.

Swimming in style in Mallow

We had a busy day in Mallow recently for the recent Munster Development 2 Meet.

Members of our Sharks squad who completed at the recent development 2 meet in Mallow, and had a very successful outing, well done everyone.

Gold podium-winning swims were achieved by: Kayla Klonowski Whelan (100 IM, 200 freestyle, 200 IM), Jack Duggan (100 breaststroke), Adam Duggan (100 fly, 200 IM), Sean Slattery (100 fly, 200 IM, 100 backstroke, 200 freestyle), Peter Verling (100 backstroke), Ciara Davitt (U13/100 backstroke).

Silver medal winners: Luca Salvatori (100 freestyle, 100 IM), Grace Duggan (100 IM), Ryan Ates (100 breaststroke, 200 IM), Lauren Kiely (100 backstroke), Jack Duggan (100 fly), Margaret Verling (200 freestyle, 200 IM), Sam O’Brien (100 IM).

Bronze medal winners: Adam Duggan (100 freestyle), Grace Duggan (100 backstroke 100 breaststroke), Margaret Verling (200 freestyle), Jack Duggan (200 IM), Tadhg O’Brien (200 freestyle).

Our Torpedo squad members were out in force at the recent development 2 meet in Mallow, all the hard work in training is definitely paying dividends for this dedicated group.

We had some fantastic PBs and performances, so well done to all the swimmers, I’m sure you all enjoyed the gala. Thanks to Mallow SC for hosting, and to the officials and volunteers who ran the meet so efficiently.
