Irish Age Group Championships – N.A.C.

Six Fermoy Swimming club swimmers set off to the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin to attend the Irish Age Group Championships the Division 1 of swimming galas. It is a huge event with not only clubs from all over Ireland competing but also from many other countries. 

Our swimmers have to be truly talented and committed in order to attain the difficult qualifying times just to be able to swim in this gala.

Jodie Baker was our first swimmer to compete obtaining 13 place in the 200m Individual Medley and 12 place in the 200m Breaststroke a good overall result, well done Jodie.

Conor Murray was next up swimming the 100m freestyle with an impressive 1.25 Personal Best, He also came in at 12 overall for his 100m Breaststroke and took an amazing 13.76 seconds off his 200m I.M. Great swim Conor.

Fiona Miao swam an excellent Personal Best in the 100m Backstroke taking of 2.79 seconds and coming in overall in 12th position. Fiona managed a greater achievement in the 200m Backstroke taking off 4.39 seconds from her time and making it to the finals in eighth position. Fiona swan her heart out to take 4.97 seconds off her P.B. and finished in eighth position. Well done Fiona a brilliant result.

Ellen Brooks has also had a lot of experience competing in this gala and swam in the 100m Breaststroke.

Sean Slattery has also competed at this event before and he represented Fermoy in the 100m Butterfly.

Well done to all the above swimmers who made Fermoy Swimming Club and indeed the town of Fermoy proud by qualifying and swimming in this prestigious event.
