Fermoy swimmers set off to the Sean Treacy Pooto compete in the Tipperary Tigersharks Invitation Gala recently. This is a great gala to introduce some of our swimmers to the world of competitive swimming, as the atmosphere is very friendly and the gala is always well run.
The first-timers did extremely well and represented the club impressively, so congratulations to Dane Fitzgerald on coming away with an impressive silver medal in the 13-14 50m Backstroke.
Fionn Fives took 5.62 seconds off his 100m Freestyle, almost a second off his 50m Backstroke and over a second off his 50m Breaststroke time – well done Fionn.
Also, gaining a PB on the day was Katie Rice, who knocked 3.56 seconds off her 50m Backstroke.

Well done to all the swimmers, I’m sure you all enjoyed the Gala. Thanks to Coach Paula for all her hard work on the day and a big thank you to all the parents who attended and helped. Your help was very much appreciated, especially with the new swimmers.
CLUB HATS ARE MANDATORY FOR COMPETITIONS
Parents should please note that if your child is taking part in a gala they must wear a Fermoy Swimming Club hat, these hats cost €7, and are available to purchase from your child’s coach. We have a development level 1 gala coming up on May 19th, please make sure that you purchase your hats well in advance. Club hats are mandatory at competitive galas.

Remember, if your swimmer doesn’t already have a club teeshirt to wear to their next gala, we have a variety of sizes in stock. The teeshirts are dryfit, meaning they don’t retain water, and are perfect for wearing between races. It’s brilliant to see our swimmers decked out in their club colours.
