Fantastic performances at Douglas meet

What a brilliant day the Fermoy swimmers had at the Development 2 meet in Douglas pool. Personal best times all-round. Listed below in alphabetical order we had:

Jodie Baker who swam the 100m fly, this was a new event for Jodie but this wasn’t going to dampen her performance, Jodie finished in 1st place, taking home gold for Fermoy. Zach Daniels Howard swam the 100m freestyle and the 100m breaststroke, not only did Zach achieve a pb in both events, he achieved a fantastic 12 second pb in the 100m breaststroke.

Adam Duggan swam in the 100m breaststroke, 100m fly, 200m IM and the 200m freestyle, Adam achieved a pb in all events, achieving a 20 second pb in the 200m freestyle. But not only that, Adam brought home gold and two bronze on the day. Grace Duggan swam in the 100m backstroke and the 200m freestyle. Grace got a pb in the 100m backstroke and got a super time in her 200m freestyle which was a new event for her. Emily Gorey swam the 200m Individual Medley and the 100m breaststroke, achieving super times in both events, with an 11 second pb in her 100m breaststroke. Well done Emily!

Next we have Emily’s brother Louis Gorey, who swam in the 100m backstroke and the 200m freestyle. Louis had two super races and got great times in these events. Lauren Kiely swam in the 200m Individual Medley; Lauren had a great swim and achieved a super time in this event. Fiona Miao competed in the 200m freestyle, 100m freestyle and the 100m breaststroke. Fiona had three great races taking home a 23 second pb in the 200 freestyle, along with two gold and one silver medal.

Sam O’Brien competed in the 100m breaststroke, 100m backstroke and the 200m freestyle. Sam had three very good races, pacing a textbook 200m freestyle. Great swimming Sam. Tadhg O’Brien swam the 100m breaststroke, 200m Individual Medley, 100m backstroke and the 200m freestyle. Tadhg achieved great pbs in his events, getting a 12 second pb in the 200m freestyle. Luke O’Shea competed in the 100m breaststroke, 100m backstroke and the 200m freestyle. Luke had three great swims, getting a great time in his 200m freestyle.

Melina Pyrovolaki competed in four events, the 100m backstroke, 200m freestyle, 200m Individual Medley and the 100m breaststroke, Melina had a super day, achieving great pbs in her events. Nefeli Pyrovolaki leading the way for her sister, competed in the 100m backstroke, 200m freestyle, 200m Individual Medley and the 100m breaststroke. Nefeli had four great swims on the day.

Luca Salvatori swam the 100m breaststroke, 200m Individual Medley, 100m backstroke and the 200m freestyle. Luca had a super day, pbs in all four events and brought home a gold, silver and bronze medal. Róise Stevenson swam in the 100m backstroke, 200m freestyle, 200m Individual Medley and the 100m breaststroke. Róise achieved fantastic times in all events along with a bronze Medal in the 100m breaststroke. Tiernán Stevenson competed in the 100m fly, 200m IM, 100m backstroke and the 200m freestyle. Tiernan had a great day, achieving great times in his events.

Last but not least we move onto the Verling Family. Margaret Verling competed in the 100m backstroke, 100m freestyle and the 100m breaststroke. Margaret got great pbs in her events. Peter Verling competed in the 100m breaststroke, 100m backstroke and the 200 freestyle, Peter achieved pbs in all his events and had a super day in the water.

Last but no means least, William Verling swam in the 100m |breaststroke and the 200m Individual Medley, William achieved a 13 second pb in the breaststroke and a 10 second pb in the Individual Medley, bringing home another silver medal for Fermoy.

Well done to all the swimmers for their fantastic swimming over the weekend. You all did the club proud at the weekend. Now it is back to training to get ready for the first long course meet in January, the Gerry Ryan in UL. (report JB)
